Generating a new tree

Last updated 4 months ago

After creating a new Collection, you can generate a new tree for supported organisms.

Note for PATH-SAFE initiative: after using the Context-Search feature, it is necessary to generate a new tree by first creating a new collection comprising the new full set of genomes

To generate a tree:

  • In the Interactive Collection View, the tree panel will show "Generate tree" when this is possible.

  • Select the "Generate tree" button.

  • Momentarily, there will be a message in the bottom left of the window saying that "Your tree generation was initiated successfully"

  • Look in the bottom right of your screen for status updates. You can expand the status bar using the caret icon.

  • For context-searches, once you see “Updated collection available" in the status updates, click the round arrow to Reload your Collection with the new Tree Panel. You can also refresh the page at the browser level (e.g. if you close the status update box without refreshing).

  • For context-searches, now you can save the new Collection, either as an update to the current Collection or as a new Collection. Note that you cannot save a tree to a Search.

Tip - If you have generated the new tree, but it isn’t showing up yet (and if the message is gone from the bottom right corner of your page), refreshing your browser page should show the tree panel.
